About Us: Our Work

The Rural Media Company has produced over 250 high-quality, media projects at the cutting edge of social policy. Our work has won awards, been broadcast on BBC2 and Channel 4, and our educational resources have received DfES approval and plaudits in the Times Educational Supplement.

Why We're Different

What sets us apart is the people we work with: marginalised groups and people isolated by poverty, social disadvantage or disability - particularly young people.  We partner them with the Midlands' best media professionals - graphic designers, photographers, multi-media designers, actors, writers and filmmakers - and the end results are authentic, accessible and entertaining.

New Initiatives

We have recently developed two new initiatives, both of which will become independent regional organisations during 2005:

  • Borderlines Film Festival - The Borderlines Film Festival - with 100 events and screenings at arts centres - and village halls - across 120 miles of countryside, has grown into Britain's biggest rural film festival and a new independent organisation has been set up to run this major cultural event.
  • MediaDev - a three-year pilot media sector business advice, networking and industry training project comes to the end of its partnership with Herefordshire Council Creative Industries. A new independent organisation is being formed to continue this exciting initiative.
