the Rural Media Company: rural issues
It has taken the mainstream media years to realise that, for some, rural England is a hard place to live.
The Rural Media Company has spent the last decade looking at the real problems of the countryside working every day with country people to reflect their ideas and concerns. What our work shows is that making a living can be harder here than anywhere: old jobs are going and new ones won't keep a family. Poverty and loneliness sit alongside beauty and affluence.
Most of the media prefer simplistic stories about hunting or agribusiness to the real issues. Working outside the mainstream, The Rural Media Company builds long-term creative partnerships, which represent the viewpoint of rural people and tell their stories from the ground up. We understand the complexity of the issues facing rural communities, because we're based right here, where they happen.
We're here - at the grassroots.
