Shoot Out (www.shootout.org.uk) is the filmmaking project for young people in Herefordshire. It gives 13-19 year olds the chance to develop ideas for their own creative and community films. We provide training at schools and youth clubs across the county and at our weekly Hereford Hub meetings. Once they have been trained in filmmaking we then provide young people with the opportunity to use their new skills on a voluntary basis to make a film about a local group or charity who is working in their community.

Shoot Out also works with specialist groups such as RNCB and Hope Support Services to give young people from these groups the chance to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences with others, through film.
Hereford Hub
Every Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm a free filmmaking training session is held at The Rural Media Company's Offices on Widemarsh Street in Hereford.
Covering everything from camera and sound to acting and scriptwriting, 13-19 year olds are given the chance to practice filmmaking, created their own shorts and work on films commissioned by local community groups.
Shoot Out Cinema Club
Every other Thursday we are now running free film screenings. In addition to a great main feature, we will also be showing one of our current community films as well as a short drama .
Screenings are held between 5pm and 7.30pm at our offices and you don’t need to be a filmmaker to join Cinema Club, you just need to love films....
If you can't make the Wednesday night sessions, don't panic! We also run workshops in the Half-Term, Easter and Summer Holidays.
The Shoot Out Summer Film School returned to Hereford this summer holidays. A group of budding young filmmakers learn new filmmaking skills and made their own short movies in a week!
The two week film school began with a series of master classes run by industry professionals where the young people learned camera operation, screen acting, sound recording, script writing and editing.

Once they'd completed these workshops, the young participants created short film ideas that were then pitched to a panel of judges. Three ideas were picked and these became three short films that were shot on location at the Dinedor Outdoor Centre during the second week.
Film School concluded on Friday 5th August with a packed screening of the completed films to friends and family. The three films were:
Roses - A horror set in the woods and a cottage inhabited by a lonely young man.
The Trapped Man - An emotive drama about a young man haunted by the past and trapped by his agoraphobia.
Eliza - An insight into the quirky world of a girl whose destiny is controlled by an unknown force.
