Travellers' Times

The Travellers’ Times is one of Rural Media’s long-term projects.

Funded by BIG Lottery, we produce a bi-annual print magazine and publish a news story or feature every day on the website . We also deliver Media Skills and news-writing courses and events to train and support Gypsies and Travellers to tell their stories, educate people about their culture and advocate for their very disadvantaged communities, with their work published online and in print.

Rural Media provides a high-quality platform to make the Travelling community heard, celebrating its culture and challenging stereotypes and negative mainstream media representation.

Travellers’ Times is a valuable tool for those working directly or indirectly with these communities, providing greater awareness and understanding – as well as a unique line of communication that is highly respected and trusted by Gypsies and Travellers throughout the UK.

Visit the Travellers' Times website to find out more.

We are thrilled to announce that, as of December 2016, Rural Media has been awarded a further £500,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to expand its communications and training work with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller families throughout the UK.

'The Oldest Show on the Road' (above) recently won an RTS Midlands Diversity award.
